My family's business was founded in 1965 by my grandfather. Starting from nothing, he built it into one the premier claims
adjusting organizations in the state of New Mexico. When he passed in
the early nineties, my father stepped away from his law practice to take
over. His tenure was one of modernization.
For my part, upon
graduating from university I was given an opportunity to work as an
adjuster with a plan in place to eventually take over the reins.
Unfortunately, I didn't take to the work and was gone within a season.
That
said, Keenan & Associates was my first classroom. In the decade
where I grew from a kid in middle school to a young man in college, that
office building and the staff that worked there taught me about the
importance of communication, the inequity of power dynamics in office
politics, and the never ending headaches of maintaining an old building.

K&A

The company's original building on Lomas

My grandfather outside of the company's original building taking care of business. He was a "do whatever it takes to get it done" kind of guy.

My father standing in his office in front of an oil painting painted by a now famous local artist. Despite all the stress he had to deal with, he would always stop working and greet me whenever I would come by the office to visit.

My short tenure was marked by high hopes and a quick realization that claims adjusting was not for me.
