After a brief stint trying out the family business in the beginning of 2006, I'd already returned to the station by Thanksgiving for what would be a long tenure (by today's standards) in the New Media department working as a Multimedia Specialist.

This was at the dawn of digital video and YouTube, back when the drives were big enough to be used as weapons.

A huge part of my job was getting the shows exported, compressed and online as quickly as possible for the audience to share and bring new viewers to the show.

Another aspect of my role was digitizing the station's archives. One of the fun parts of that task was designing new covers for the documentary films, in the same way that Netflix does nowadays.

One of my favorite parts of working at KNME, now NMPBS, was the people. From the producers to the students to management, everyone was a genuinely good human.

Steven (left) ran the IT department, and Chad (right) was second in charge to the station's CEO, and was in charge of content. I was lucky enough to report directly to him during his tenure.
“Josh was my digital scout, ranging out along the frontier of digital media and reporting back on opportunities. The position Josh took on was a totally new one for the organization, so it was incumbent upon Josh to make it his own. He did so by bringing to that position an inherently positive attitude, a philosophical way of approaching technical challenges and a curiosity for what was just over the digital horizon.”
-Chad Davis, Assistant General Manager - Digital & Multimedia at Nebraska Educational Telecommunications PBS & NPR

Joan was the Director of Communication, and my supervisor after Chad's departure. She had a very motherly vibe and was a joy to interact with day in and day out.
“I had the privilege of working with Josh Keenan for several years while he was at New Mexico PBS. Josh is a highly organized, goal oriented, independent and hard working professional who puts his energy into getting the job done. Josh is extremely intelligent, creative, and analytical. Josh is probably one of the smartest people that I have ever worked with.”
